HIGH PRIORITY NOTIFICATION
Dear Parents,
Bradford High School is a school-wide Title I school that has been identified as a High Priority School. This is because we failed to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) on our graduation rate as compared to other schools in the state and as required under the No Child Left Behind law. In 2005-2006 our graduation rate was 86.5% compared to the state requirement of 90%. The following we began to make many changes to correct the problem including:
(1) Implementing a more rigorous curriculum
(2) Implementing several remedial programs for students with academic needs
(3) Increasing the use of technology through Smart Boards and mobile computer labs
(4) Ensuring that all teachers of core subjects were Highly Qualified
We have met or exceeded AYP as established by the state every year since 2005-2006 as a result of these and other programs.
You can also be involved in your child’s education and helping us to maintain AYP by:
(1) Ensuring your child is enrolled in remedial programs if needed and is
ATTENDING REGULARLY
(2) Attending school sponsored activities such as Open House and Parent-
Teacher conferences
(3) Stressing to your child regularly the importance of education and earning
a high school diploma
(4) Talking with your child and your child’s teacher about his/her academic
progress and addressing any needs they may have
BSSD will again offer Supplemental Education Services this year. This is a free tutoring program for those students with academic deficiencies and who qualify, based on family income. Additional information about this will be mailed to you within the next few days.
